BARDI, Parma, Emilia Romagna Italy.

My family originated from the town of Bardi in the province of Parma, which is in the region of Emilia Romagna, Northern Italy. My name is Angelo Servini. I was born in Gorseinon, near to Swansea City in South Wales, UK. In the following weeks-months I will attempt to write an account of the history of my family and of the area where I originate from.

The following maps illustrate the area of origin of my section of the Servini family from Italy.

The map on the left shows where Bardi fits in to northern Italy. The map on the right shows which villages/towns are within a catchment of 7-10 miles from Bardi. My parents, Lazzaro Servini and Angela Servini (Moruzzi), originated from the villages of Brugnioli and Rugarlo respectively (these are just off the sp28 between Bardi and Casanova - not shown on maps).

The above maps were taken in from screenshots of Microsoft Autoroute GB 2001 (TM Microsoft).

The town of Bardi lies nestled securely in the Appenine Hills. It was a fortress town that still shows off its castle 'Castello di BARDI', a castle that sits next to the town of Bardi on top of almost unassailable cliffs. In its heyday, the castle would have seemed a very tough nut to crack for any marauding armies intent on conquest.
